Mr Henry Hyland Established Hylands in 1938

Our first shop's were on Merrial Street, Newcastle Under Lyme
and 786/788 Uttoxeter Road, Meir

With the coming of the war the Merrial Street store was closed
and we became known as 'Hylands of Meir'

This photo was taken in the 1950's
Note the Service Dept was above the shop in those days

Alongside electrical appliances,
we also sold baby's prams - toys - records - cycles and even motorcycles in those early days.

Jan 2011 - BBC TV DIY SOS came to the aid of a family in Bright Street Meir,
we did our bit to help;

As you can see we are a well established
and much respected local firm
with an excellent reputation for both value and service.

We are very proud of our history & our solid reputation!

------------------------------------------------------

& what for the future?

'Hylands in Hanley' has a ring to it?

Stafford is also another possibility - building on our Stone branches reputation?

There are many other possible towns,
however we don't wish to tread on the toes of fellow traders that we respect,
so for now we watch to see which way our business grows.

Watch this space ............
